GeoAccess Professioinal 2018 is priced at A$3,000 for a single user licence and includes the complete version of the old GeoAccess.

After Downloading and Installing GeoAccessPro 2018, you will need a licence code. Contact lynn@widenbar.com.au to get your code. There should be a desktop icon installed as well.

Running GeoAccess Pro 2018

On running GeoAccess Pro 2018 you should see the following splash screen ….

After a few seconds, this will be followed by the main screen ….

Settings

The Settings options allow you to set up a QuickStart option (a direct load for GeoAccessPro format files), as well as hide messages and set up standard colours for the various graph displays.

File Loading

As with the old GeoAccess, you have several file open options. At this stage, they are ….

          This is the native format for GeoAccess Pro 2015 – any files that have been previously opened can be saved in this format. It is typically the quickest to load, and in the Settings option can be set up to autoload data as soon as selected.

     This option works with Micromine binary or text format files.

      This option works with Datamine binary files (Extended Precision only).

             This will open .xls or .xlsx files. It works best if the worksheets are simple tables with a header row for the names of the variables.

             This opens Comma-Separated Value files. It expects a header row for the names of the variables.

      This shows the last six files you have accessed.

All methods will a show a preview of the selected file (for a spreadsheet you will see the worksheet tabs as well)  ….

At this point you can ….

·         Select or de-select individual variables using the tick boxes

·        

·        

·           Save direct to A GeoAccess Pro 2015 format file for later use

When you are ready click and the selected variables will be loaded and the ribbon at the top will show all of the currently available groups of options ….

 

	These options allow you to reload/unload/save the current file, to view the data and modify variable types.
	These are all of the statistical analysis options and will produce various sorts of plots.
	The Major Variogram Setup and Display Options.
	Duplicates essentially is correlation analysis. Standards and Blanks need an ID field for the sample numbers and will produce series plots with various standard deviation lines shown.
	This will place whatever is displayed in the active window onto the clipboard so that it can be pasted into documents or spreadsheets.

Statistics

When any of the major Statistics options are chosen a graphical display will be shown, with various option buttons depending on the function chosen. All will have a tool-tip if you hover the mouse over them and most perform similar functions to those currently available in the old GeoAccess. Experiment!

Variograms

 Selecting Vario Setup will show the following screen:

This function will calculate variograms in all possible directions at the Angular Increment specified and will then display all of the horizontal variograms.

At this point there are several possible routes:

 will display a contour fan:

 display vertical variograms and the  and  buttons change the strike.  Allows the number of points in each interval to be filtered.

Variogram Modelling

Variograms for modelling can be selected in three ways :

·         Directly off a variogram display (horizontal or vertical) by clicking the small variogram

·         Directly off a contour fan by selecting the direction/dip

·         By using the  button

When the first direction is selected you have the option for GeoAccessPro top calculate the second and third orthogonal directions, or these can be selected manually.

When this is done, the Variogram Model screen will be shown (see following page).

At this point you can select Single or Double Spherical Scheme models and adjust the sliders to change sills and ranges.

Variogram models can also be saved and recalled.

Differences to the Old GeoAccess

The main changes compared to the old version are in the way variables are selected, the way grouping is handled and the way filters are set up. All are done interactively after data is loaded, and all display the results immediately.

Selecting a variable (or two for correlation) will change whatever stats are being displayed.

 

 

For Grouping, select a variable from the character or numeric fields available:

When you select a variable, the plot (or statistical summary screen) will break the data into groups and show you a set of tick boxes so that you can choose which groups to display ….

The plot (e.g. probability) will look something like the one below :

Clicking on the   button (or in the area of the plot with the stats boxes) will change the level of detail of the statistics display.

One interesting option in Probability Plots is the  button, which will switch between individual display of plots for each group, or a combined plot of the selected groups. Again, Experiment !

Filtering is also now interactive after data is loaded.

Selecting either of these options -   - will show the following screen, which is fairly self-evident:

After a filter is set up, the data displayed will change to reflect the filter and display the filtering parameters:

Once a filter is set up, it can be toggled on and off with the    button.

With the statistics tabulations there are several ways to display, either with groups combined or separated, with different ways of setting up headings etc. Have a play aaround.

 As well as   option to place plots and data on the clipboard, when statistics or data grids are displayed, row, columns, just a few cells, can also be selected and copied to the clipboard using CTrl-C.
